Why He Is Leaving on a Mission

My son entered the MTC yesterday. This link is in his honor.

Farewell Talk - Sam (The Liberated)

Elder DeGraw's mission blog is "Mrmn's Mission (Ryan/Citrus/etc)" - and has been added to my blog roll.

I can only imagine that as a parent that this must be a bitter-sweet experience. But, of course, mostly sweet. Best wishes!

From time to time I used the following quote with my missionaries while teaching at the MTC. I still think it's a great quote.

"To every man, there comes in his lifetime, that special moment when he is figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered a chance to do a very special thing, unique to him and fitted to his talents; What a tragedy if that moment should find him unprepared or unqualified for the work which would be his finest hour." -- Sir Winston Churchill

That is a great quote for this context, CC. Thank you; I will put it on his mission blog.

Technically, since you posted this on Tues, he left home and flew out on Mon but didn't enter the MTC until today, Wed. Just parsing the details... :)

PS: Ray, remind me to read this talk later, after we've moved and I have more time.
