Here is one more link - to an incredibly profound and searing post about the meaning of the birth of Jesus. If you read nothing else this holiday season, I hope you read this. (The title of this post is taken from comment #3 - as eloquent a comment as I have ever read about perspective, compassion, service and the underpinnings of truly a Christian view.)

New insight on Christ blessing the children and inviting them to come to Him. Those with slight mortal tears *do* need to appreciate the sacrifices of those who have given (still give) so much so we can have the blessings we enjoy.
Thanks for sharing.
Definately new insight into the way Christ treated the children. I did not understand the culteral impact of his actions. It makes me wonder how many who were there understood and followed his example after they experienced it.
I learn so much from your posts. Thanks for helping me to see things from a different perspective.
It makes me wonder how we will be judged based on how we treat those who are considered to be worthless in our own society.
That last comment was me.
Wow. Another powerful and profound insight. I had never thought about the cultural relevance of Christ blessing the children.
These are truly amazing times we live in. It's incredible to look at how far we've come in the US in just the last century. Hopefully that shows that we really are still moving forward, even if we fall short of our lofty principles sometimes.
