Not that great of a thread to me (sorry) cultural difference I guess.
I am not saying that in France a beautiful woman is not going to get attention and more. I am saying that we allow much more various type of beauty and more people have a chance I guess.
For example I took pic of a girl and for fun pictures were taken of me. She showed a picture of me to one of her co-worker who think I am hot and who is willing to meet with me although "he is still too much into his ex right now".
I know others find me plain yucky.
Ok maybe this is just because I am average but listen to this:
I never heard two person agreeing really on who was attractive and who was not.
Oh wait I have but then one would be like "yeah she is beautiful but I just don't get any vibes for her" when the other would just be daydreaming looking at her.
Same goes for boys.
It really takes someone to be super ugly I guess. But even then is this person had charisma he/she can be sure of getting what s/he wants.
I think that's it.
We care more for charisma than for look really.
I thought of a very good example to illustrate my point.
Years ago an american friend of mine said that she was surprised by how "plain" our "stars" in France are. We do have beautiful people but most of our "stars" are not. Because we care more about what they can convey than what they look.
Yet, Fanny Ardant, Catherine Deneuve and Carole Bouquet are very poor illustration beside the fact that they are only three when we have MUCH more actresses.
Let's see ... Julie Delpy, Juliette Binoche, Audry Tautou. Yup, a real bunch of uglies. *wink*
I enjoyed reading your comments, b&a.
