True or Not, Some Things Simply Should Be Believed

"If you want to believe in something, then believe in it. Just because something isn’t true, there’s no reason you can’t believe in it. Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things that a man needs to believe in the most: that people are basically good; that honor, courage and virtue mean everything; that power and money mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; that true love never dies. It doesn’t matter if they are true or not. A man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in."

- from the movie, "Second Hand Lions".

That's a really great movie.

Perhaps one of the best things we can believe is that people are innately good -- good enough that we don't need religion to be good, after all.

I've been thinking this thought too, particularly in relation to the principal of hope.I try to think about what it is useful to believe.

I think a lot of the gospel is about what can encourage us,in often desperate situations. For most of us in most of the world, our circumstances are ,at some point ,going to be desperate.
